Monthly office hours start on June 28 in Roy and June 29 in Clayton 

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Human Services Department (HSD) joins Aging and Long-Term Services Department (ALTSD) in an inter-departmental pilot project with the goal of providing rural communities increased access to in-person benefits assistance. The opening dates for the offices in Union and Harding counties will be June 28 & 29, 2023 from 10am to 2:30pm. 

This new collaboration with Union and Harding County will see HSD staff available in-person in the following locations: 

• The Roy Senior Center located at 381 Fair St. Roy, NM on the last Wednesday of every month, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 
• The Union County Office located at 200 Court St. Clayton, NM on the last Thursday of every month, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 

HSD staff will be in Roy on June 28, and Clayton June 29 assisting community members with benefits enrollment for SNAP and Medicaid; answering questions about their benefits, and other assistance as needed.  

“Expanding our presence in Union and Harding counties will help HSD and its sister agencies reach our goal of meeting customers where they are,” said Kari Armijo, acting cabinet secretary for the New Mexico Human Services Department. “New Mexico is a rural state, and we know that it isn’t always possible to travel to a state field office to get services. We are looking forward to our partnership and collaboration with these communities to better serve our fellow New Mexicans.” 

HSD are committed to reaching our customers where they are, and we look forward to being able to better serve the communities of Union and Harding counties by providing in-person support. 

Union and Harding County residents can make an appointment here: Clayton Office and Roy Office but walk-ins during the assigned hours are welcome.

For our hearing, and speech impaired customers, we utilize Relay New Mexico, a free 24-hour service that ensures equal communication access via the telephone to individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind or speech disabled. 

The Human Services Department provides services and benefits to 1,085,290 New Mexicans through several programs including: the Medicaid Program, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Child Support Program, and several Behavioral Health Services.
