New Mexico Medicaid invites primary care providers to participate in quality payment incentives

SANTA FE – New Mexico’s Medicaid program is now accepting registrations from primary care providers to participate in the Medicaid Primary Care Payment Reform Value-Based Payment (PCPR VBP) program.

“We are proud to offer an innovative, value-based payment solution to primary care providers that minimizes the burden on them while rewarding patient-centered practices like timely access to care, supporting behavioral health, and positive patient experiences,” said Dana Flannery, Medicaid director.

The multi-year program pays incentives to providers who meet quality metrics for health care delivery. Providers can check eligibility and register at nmpcpr.nethealth.com/screening-eligibility

New Mexico is a national leader in developing programs that pay providers based on the quality of care they provide. The PCPR program is one way the state supports Medicaid primary care providers. By encouraging clinicians to provide care in the way patients need — whether through a video visit with a nurse, a phone call between the primary care provider and a specialist, or an in-person visit — Medicaid can increase access to care and improve patient experiences.

The PCPR VBP program, developed in partnership with primary care practices and other partners, includes reporting requirements and incentives aimed at improving patient health. Incentivizing primary care means Medicaid members have a single source of care to help manage chronic diseases and avoid emergency department visits and hospital admissions.

Primary care providers can visit the PCC website for information on how to register, find training and technical assistance, office hours, and in-person workshops starting in early 2025.
