Mental health support is always available
SANTA FE — The New Mexico Health Care Authority (HCA) reminds residents that the 988 lifeline is available 24/7 throughout the holiday season, providing free and confidential support for anyone experiencing mental health, emotional, or substance use challenges.
“If you’re facing a difficult time, you’re not alone this holiday season,” said Kari Armijo, Secretary of the New Mexico Health Care Authority. “The 988 lifeline is available 24/7 to provide support, someone to talk to, and behavioral health resources.”
The holiday season, while joyful for some, can also be a challenging time for many. Work-related stress, family or cultural expectations, financial pressures, shorter daylight hours, and feelings of loneliness or grief can all contribute to heightened emotional distress during this time of year.
The 988 lifeline offers assistance for those experiencing emotional distress, mental health challenges, or concerns related to substance use. Trained behavioral health professionals are available to provide compassionate, non-judgmental support and connect individuals with helpful resources when needed.
Anyone seeking help, regardless of the issue, can call or text 988 or chat at 988lifeline.org. Since its inception in July 2022, the 988 lifeline has responded 72,572 calls, texts or chats.
