SANTA FE — State health agencies will host a town hall in Taos to discuss the issues of health and housing.
The town hall will take place on Monday, August 19 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Bataan Hall, located at 121 Civic Plaza Drive in Taos.
The New Mexico Department of Health (NMHealth) and the New Mexico Health Care Authority Cabinet Secretaries, Patrick Allen and Kari Armijo, along with members of their staff, will be on hand to answer questions from the community. In addition, officials from Taos have been invited to serve as panelists including Mayor Pascualito Maestas and Governor Fred Romero of the Taos Pueblo.
“We’re eager to hear directly from the Taos community about their health challenges,” said Patrick Allen, NMHealth Secretary. “Our goal is to make New Mexico the healthiest state by 2040, and understanding these issues is key.”
“The town hall is a chance to connect with our communities and work on bridging the gap between health care and housing,” said Kari Armijo, Cabinet Secretary for the New Mexico Health Care Authority.
The event will be streamed live online on the Governor’s Facebook and YouTube pages. The event is open to the media.
