Fresh Start Arrears Management Program

The “Fresh Start” Arrears Management Program for child support is

a settlement program for non-custodial parents to settle any arrears owed to the State of NM.

If you would like to apply for settlement, simply submit your completed application and the required documentation to your caseworker with your settlement offer. Your caseworker will review your application and inform you if your offer is accepted or provide you with a counter offer.

Please note that your case should meet some of the following criteria before you make any payment as a result of your application:

All dependents are emancipated.
There is only an arrears payment due each month, not ongoing support.
The parties have reconciled and are cohabitating.

A case is not eligible for the Arrears Management Program if the custodial parent is actively receiving TANF funds.
