While a large part of the work of the Human Services Department allows New Mexicans to apply for public assistance programs, our mission is to “reduce the impact of poverty on people living in New Mexico by providing support services that help families break the cycle of dependency on public assistance.” To accomplish this mission, we strive to help our clients help themselves to build a better future for themselves and their families. We have instituted a number of programs to assist in accomplishing that goal.
