SNAP Outreach

What is SNAP Outreach?

The Health Care Authority’s (HCA) Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Outreach Program helps connect individuals and families with the resources they need to access healthy, affordable food. SNAP outreach is a joint effort between HCA and local community-based organizations (CBOs). Currently, HCA contracts with two local CBOs.

SNAP outreach partners help you:

  • Complete your SNAP application, interim report and recertification

Can I only apply through a SNAP outreach partner?

No! There are several ways that you can apply for SNAP. Here are all the different ways that you can apply:

Are there special rules for older adults and people with disabilities?

Yes, we offer a simplified application process through the Elderly/Disabled Simplified Application Project (ESAP). This helps streamline the process for qualifying individuals. Additionally, you may be eligible for increased benefits based on medical expenses and other deductions.

Where can I use SNAP benefits?

SNAP benefits can be used at grocery stores, farmers markets, and some online retailers to purchase food items like fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat, and more. When you use SNAP benefits at select NM outlets (like farmers markets) you can double your SNAP funds. Double Up Food Bucks matches your fruit and vegetable purchases dollar for dollar. That means you and your family get twice the fresh fruits and veggies!
